Pavements, Potholes and Pesky Parking - 23 June 2011
The actual journey to a shop can sometimes be as difficult as trying to get in the shop itself. Uneven pavements, unfilled potholes, and a lack of dropped kerbs can all cause huge problems for wheelchair users and people with restricted mobility. Not to mention cars parked right in front of a designated crossing place - really frustrating!

The Equality Act 2010 - 1 October 2010
Today the majority of the Equality Act 2010 will come into force and will replace the Disability Discrimination Act. The Act aims to strengthens and bring together all nine separate pieces of legislation so that disabled people and other groups will have greater protection from discrimination.

Campaigning Awards - 16 June 2010
Winners of Leonard Cheshire Disability Campaigning Service of the Year announced
The winners of the 2010 Campaigning Service of the Year award have been announced. The award recognises the vital work done by our campaigners to get action taken on local issues that affect disabled people. In first place were Grange Disability Action, one of our Campaigns Action Groups (CAGs), who won for their success in getting the public, politicians and businesses to work together to transform access to buildings and attractions in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria.

Design competition - 9 June 2010
Thank you to everyone who entered the Action for Access design competition. We received some fantastic and innovative ideas and it was very difficult to choose the winners but here they are.
In first place was this poster campaign highlighting three main access issues faced by disabled people. They were designed by residents from Bradbury House in Crook.

The New Equality Act - 6 May 2010
A new law called the Equality Act, designed to ensure all people, including disabled people, receive fair treatment has been passed by Parliament last month. The Equality Act was one of a number of bills made law before Parliament was dissolved ahead of the general election. From October the Act will replace existing equality laws, including the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act).
