Letters and Action Cards
After completing your survey, writing to the business is a great way to start talking about access issues and how they can be improved.
We have created two template letters that you can use displayed at the bottom of this page.
With each letter there is space for you to fill in the details of your visit.
- The first letter is designed to send to businesses were you think they should improve their access. You can add your suggestions on how you think they can do this.
- The second letter is for businesses that you have good access or who are using an innovative approach to access issues. Acknowledging good access helps highlight how important good access is and ensure they continue to make the access needs of disabled people a priority for their business.
Action cards work alongside the letters. They are a good way of asking services to tell you exactly how they will be improving their access.
How to use an Action card
Action cards are designed to go in the services front window to show customers that they have pledged to take Action for Access and what they will do to achieve that.
Take an Action Card with you to your meeting with the business manager/owner or include one with your follow up letter.
- They can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.
- Print them off and fold each in half and glue.
- One card asks services what they will pledge and this will go into their front window. The other is to send back to us with the freepost address, so we can keep a record of what they are pledging.
- We will add their pledges to the website beside their survey. If you would like us to send you some action cards then email your address to
- If you give out an action card it would be really helpful for us if you could keep us updated on what the service is doing to achieve their pledges in case we don't hear back from the them. You can do this by editing the comments box or adding additional photos to your original survey online or by contacting us and we will add that information for you.
- If you would like some cards sent to you just let us know.
