Campaigns planning
Campaigners using access resources

This campaign is about creating better access for everyone. It aims to get campaigners and shops, businesses and sevices working together for an accessible UK that will benefit everyone.

Before you start surveying, read through these guidelines for useful tips.

You might also want to look through some of the surveys added by other campaigners.

Guidelines for using the survey

  • Download a survey form from the home page and start surveying any where you want! Shops, pubs, cinemas, buses, taxis, post offices, hairdressers can all improve their access for disabled customers.
  • You can also add a survey direct from your phone with the new free Orange Do Some Good app.
  • The survey questions are NOT a full access audit and should not be used as such. They are simply access priorities that would make a venue more accessible for many disabled people but each person's access requirements can be different and these points will not make a shop or business accessible for everyone. Venues who would like a full access check should contact a registered access auditor through the National Register of Access Auditors - www.nrac.org.uk/
  • Tell us any other points you wnat to mention in the comments box.
  • Depending on the facility, you may want to explain to a member of staff what you are doing. This is up to you but might be useful in smaller venues.
  • There is a tear off slip at the bottom of the survey sheet with the website details that you can leave with staff so they know where your results will be shown.
  • Think about the attitudes of the staff who work there, as well as any practical issues you encounter.
  • When you have finished the survey look at What to do after your survey for ways to follow up and see improvement happen.
  • if you would like to post us your results and we can add them to the website, use our freepost address
