Stopping traffic: Campaigner ensures safe crossings in London Bridge

Are your local traffic lights to quick to cross the road? Read here how one campaigner made his roads safer for disabled people.

Last month campaigner Nick Lynch wrote to Transport for London to point out the quick changing traffic lights on Southwark Street. The traffic lights were changing from red to green within 7 seconds, barely giving people a chance to cross the road. This meant that people with mobility problems such as Nick were unable to cross the road without other road users becoming inpatient and aggressive.  As a result of Nick's letter the timings on the traffic lights have been extended to allow people to cross the road safely.
